  1. i am all for it...it really bothers me when you have people who are so narrow minded or ignorant as to think that obtaining stem cells require killing babies (i have heard that argument before) so they are totally against stem cell research. wasn't it george w. bush who completely banned any kind of stem cell research? i honestly cannot understand the reasoning behind banning the research since it has so much potential to further our understanding and developing treatments for so many diseases. these diseases (ie parkinsons, alzheimers, etc) are ones that are pretty common in our country.

  2. I am behind politicians who are for passing the stem cell law and I hope it does pass sometime soon. One time I was talking to someone at my work about what I have been doing in bio lab and once I said stem cells they looked at me like I was evil. They thought I was killing something and they were like "oh your doing that I don't think that's good" and I asked what do you mean? They told me people shouldn't be killing babies and they clearly did not understand anything about stem cells. Many people are unaware of what it means for something to be a stem cell, how they are obtained, and what they can be used for.

  3. I think there's just a lot of misconception about the topic. People are too ignorant and stubborn to understand the topic in its entirety. The implications of its research are so vast and revolutionary, and it doesn't need to involve killing fetuses. I'm guessing it's mostly the non-science congress that are against the use because the benefits of utilizing stem cells are endless. Understanding that would require a someone profound understanding of science.

  4. Its so funny that when you ask people why they are against such a promising research they seem to not have an answer, only responding with one liners like " because your killing babies" or " your playing God" which I have heard both, time after time. People just need to be better educated on what this research really is about andthepromising research that can come out of this.

  5. Whenever I hear someone say they are vehemently against stem cell research I ask them if they are also against in vitro fertilization. The answer is usually no. Then I explain where scientists obtain embryonic stem cells from, and that these extra embryos were already created to get someone pregnant and would go to waste otherwise. They usually change their tune (or adopt an anti-fertilization stance on top of things.)
